Solo Exhibition in Uzbekistan

The museum is a four-story stone building with a central atrium. The museum admission is free and the place is open for many people of all ages and genders. The facility is a place where people can gather casually.
国立美術館は4階建ての石造りで中央が吹き抜け。入場無料で老若男女たくさんの人々が気軽に集まれるコミュニティ施設でもあるようです。

They have not only Russian art and paintings from the 15th to 20th centuries but also the Central Asian Arts from the ancient times to the Middle Ages, such as carpets, gold embroideries, textiles jewelry, and other valuable collections.
15～20世紀のロシアの美術品、絵画のほか、 古代から中世にかけた中央アジアの美術品も 扱っており、絨毯、金の刺繍、織物、宝石など 貴重なコレクションが展示されています。

On the main street side of the museum in the center of Tashkent, there was a large signboard, which was announcing the concert event, the exhibition, and the lecture.
タシケントの中心街にある美術館の大通り側には、「日本の秋2022」のコンサートと吉田の写真展と蟹江さんの講演会などの情報を知らせる大きなサインボードが掲げられていました。

A Japanese Ambassador in Uzbekistan and Yoshida enjoyed chatting for a while, talking about Japan and Uzbekistan before the ceremony.
在ウズベキスタン日本大使と吉田はセレモニーの前に日本のことやウズベキスタンについて話題にしつつしばらく談笑していました。

Many people came to the venue and there was a TV broadcast. Since there were so many people, the first floor was not enough to accommodate all the visitors, the second, the third, and even the fourth floors were filled with people.
多くの人が集まり、テレビ中継もありました。1階だけでは入れきれない方々が2階、3階だけ でなく、4階まであふれていました。

The opening ceremony started with a greeting from Laura, a director of the Degdar Foundation. It took a whole day to prepare for the opening ceremony, such as bringing a piano, tuning it, and setting up his artworks.
デグダル財団のディレクターのラウラさんの挨拶からオープニング・セレモニーはスター ト。ピアノの搬入や調律、作品設営など準備に丸一日かかっています。

A representative from JT (Japan Tobacco International), a sponsor of “Autumn in Japan 2022”, also gave a speech.
「日本の秋2022」をスポンサードしている JT(日本たばこ産業株式会社)インターナショナルの代表者からもご挨拶がありました。

Yoshida, whose exhibition theme was the Great East Japan Earthquake, talked about the victims in Fukushima. He talked about how they have survived for 10 years and their positive current lives.
東日本大震災の被災地をテーマにした写真作品を展示した吉田は10年後の現在、前向きに 生きている被災者について語りました。

A popular trio in Kazakhstan of violin, cello, and piano performed “Summer”, a song used in a JT TV commercial in Japan. It was a familiar song for Japanese people.
バイオリン、チェロ、ピアノのカザフスタンで 人気のトリオは、JTのコマーシャルで使われて いる『Summer』を演奏。日本人には馴染み深い曲でした。

They wore the same costumes of shiny jackets and black hats and played traditional Uzbek music. Especially, the performance of the drum-like instruments was powerful.
お揃いのキラキラ光るジャケットと黒の帽 子を身につけて、ウズベキスタンの伝統的な音楽を奏でるグループ。とくに太鼓のような楽器は大迫力でした。

The audience kept growing during the concert. We saw how the annual events, “Spring in Japan” and “Autumn in Japan” were popular among people in this country.
コンサート中にもどんどん観客が増えていきました。毎年の「日本の春」「日本の秋」演奏会の人気ぶりが伝わってきました。

The last performance of the concert was an opera. Each man and woman sang one by one. We all sang a Japanese song together at the end of the concert. It echoed beautifully in the atrium spac
コンサートのトリはオペラでした。男性と女性 がそれぞれ一人づつ歌い、最後に一緒に日本の 歌を歌いましたが、吹き抜けの空間に美しく響きました。

The exhibition site was on the third floor. Many people came to see his artworks. They saw every piece of the photographs and took the time to read the artist’s statements.
個展会場は3階の一角。ここにもたくさんの人が集まってくれていました。一枚一枚をゆっくり見て、ステートメントもじっくり読んでくださっていました。

The scenery of the sea, a small island, and the torii gates was something people had never seen before. They seemed a little excited in front of the photos, which was impressive to us.
海の風景、そこに小島があったり、鳥居がある風景はウズベキスタンの方々には見たことのない景色だったようで、少し興奮しながら見ている姿が印象的でした。

The project, “A Border for a Prayer, One Minute Story” showed people praying for those who died in the tsunami. The victims prayed for one minute and Yoshida adjusted the exposure time to the same time. People were very impressed with those pictures.
震災後に津波で亡くなった人たちのために祈っている風景を描いた“A Border for a Prayer, One Minute Story”プロジェクトは祈りの時間と同じ1分間の露光写真が人々の興味を誘っていました。

The lecture venue was on the first floor, but many people came to the lecture site after the concert as well. People had to listen to the lecture standing at the end.
講演会場は1階でしたが、コンサート後にここにもたくさんの観客の皆さんが来てくださいました。ここも最後は立ち見になるほどでした。

While showing a film of autumn leaves and Mt. Fuji, which Kanie created, Yoshida talked about how he tried to express the meaning of "prayer".
蟹江さんの制作した日本の紅葉風景や富士山の動画を見てもらいながら、吉田先生が作品に表現しようとした「祈り」について語りました。

Yoshida explained what Japanese traditional cultures were, such as Japanese paintings, Buddhist statues, and martial arts. He said that these things became the context for his work, and gave the colors to his monochrome artworks. It also expressed the opposite things at the same time.
日本画や仏像、武道など日本の伝統文化について説明するとともに、それが作品の文脈となり、モノクロによって色を感じさせ、相対するものを同時に表現していると話されました。

Many people gathered in front of the display of Kanie’s documentary film "Message from Fukushima".
蟹江さんの制作したドキュメンタリー映画『福島からのメッセージ』が映されたディスプレイの前にも多くの方が集まってくださいました。

While setting the site, some high school students passed by, and asked, "Why do the victims live positively and calmly?"
設営中に通りかかった高校生たちも真剣に見てくれて、被災者たちがどうしてこのように前向きににこやかに生きているのか」と質問されました。

In addition to the documentary film, a video created by Kanie, in which she shot Yoshida taking pictures of the disaster area, was also shown.
ドキュメンタリー映画のほかにも、蟹江さんが制作した吉田が被災地を撮影している様子をまとめた動画なども流されました。

A video of Japanese autumn leaves was shown at a lecture by Yoshida. As people in Uzbekistan have never seen the bright autumn leaves mixed with the red colors in Oku-Nikko, a round of applause erupted when the short movie was over.
吉田先生の講演会で流された日本の紅葉の動画。奥日光の赤色も混ざる鮮やかな紅葉は見たことがないそうで、拍手喝采が巻き起こりました。

Kanie talked about how people who appeared in "Messages from Fukushima" live their lives strongly. She got a positive effect from their energy during her shooting. She wants all people to get power from the people in Fukushima. She edited this movie with her thoughts and feelings.
『福島からのメッセージ』に登場する人々のたくましく生きる姿を語る蟹江さん。撮影しながらその姿に自身がもらった元気を感じてもらいたいとこの映画を編集したという。

A video of the traditional festivals in the area where the nuclear accident occurred was also screened. People told us that they were deeply moved and we got appreciative words from them after the lecture. Many said, "Thank you for showing us how people in Fukushima live strongly and positively.”
原発事故のあった地域の伝統的なお祭りについての動画も上映。講演会後には「福島の人々の今のとても元気な姿を見せてくれてありがとう」と皆さんが 感激してくださいました。
