Activity in LA and San Diego, USA

I want to make a golden bridge between the countries with the different culture.

The Shatto Gallery in LA, USA

Visited the opening day in Shatto gallery in LA and visited MOPA in San Diego, USA.

On Oct 18th and 19th, 2019
SHATTO GALLERY is located in downtown in LA. They held the international photography exhibition “Landscape: East meets West” and we joined the grand opening of the exhibition. 33 selected photographers from 9 countries showed their artworks. We had a chance to show our artworks to Lorenzo Uccellini, one of the curators of this exhibition. He is a gallery owner of which we hold our group exhibition next spring in Italy.
And I visited MOPA with Samurai Foto member, a museum of photographic art in San Diego to see Deborah, an executive director. It was because we would participate in the opening ceremony of our group exhibition in LA and Deborah was delighted to see us in the museum. Deborah showed us the backyard of the museum and checked our artworks. She also checked artworks of members who couldn’t come this time. She gave valuable advice on our artworks and besides that, she suggested us to join the exhibition of permanent collection in 2021. It was like a dream.

THE OPENING DAY OF SHATTO GALLERYY

SHATTO GALLERY is a really big gallery. As our schedule was tight, they did the opening ceremony on Friday night for us. The traffic on Fridays is really terrible in LA and some people couldn’t get to the gallery on time. We were sorry for that. The following day was the real opening day of the exhibition and many times of people came than the previous day.

The gallery owner, Sue Park is also a photographer. She visits Hokkaido every winter to take photographs. The right one is her artwork.

Lorenzo came to LA for curating the exhibition in SHATTO GALLERY. We were lucky to see him before the group exhibition in Italy next spring.

DEBORAH SHOWED AROUND MOPA AND WE GOT FEEDBACKS ON OUR ARTWORKS FROM HER.

I visited MOPA with Samurai member, a museum of photographic art in San Diego to see Deborah, an executive director.
When I asked Deborah if I could see her in LA, she kindly accepted my offer. I expected to see her just for nearly an hour or so because she was such a really busy person. But in reality, Deborah spent almost all day with us. She showed around the museum and did a portfolio review for us.And more than that, she invited us to her favorite restaurant and enjoyed the meal together. We were all grateful for her hospitality. And more than that, she invited us to her favorite restaurant and enjoyed the meal together. Shigeru Yoshida’s artworks; His ambrotype photography of big trees, Deborah pointed out that the ambrotype photography isn’t that old in the history of photography. Those big trees are old but the technique is modern.
